You know what I mean

Some things are indescribable. Like the feeling you find in the sunrise, the flow of water, or the wing of a butterfly—just as you reach for water by your bedside when you wake up... It’s not mere desire, nor is it passion—it’s like the other half of a whole. Without it, you feel incomplete. If you hold it in your hand, it will burn; if you let it go, it will fade away. It cannot be contained by the alphabet, nor by words. Like breath, like water, like death, like life. You know what I mean, don’t you?
you know what I mean
when you wake up, you look for water by your bedside
first you wash your hands and face
it’s hard to describe, it’s the first thing that comes to mind
You know what I mean
It hurts, and you wish they were here with you
In the sway of a flower, in the sparkle in your eyes
It’s hard to describe—you’re the one I can’t get out of my mind
you know what I mean
in the sunrise, in the flow of water
like the dampness of dewdrops on your pant leg
it’s so hard to describe, you’ll never quite grasp it
You know what I mean, don’t you?
Desire? No… Passion? No…
Like the other half of a whole, without it you’re incomplete
It’s so hard to describe, like longing, like reunion
you know what I mean
you’ll find it on a butterfly’s wing
in a child’s embrace
it’s hard to describe—pure, innocent, crystal-clear
You know what I mean
Like a flame in your hand—if you hold it, it’ll burn; if you let go, it’ll fade
A lifetime could be given for the sparkle in your eyes
It’s so hard to describe—it won’t fit into the alphabet or words
You know what I mean
Your eyes see nothing but her
Sometimes the horizon feels too narrow without her
It’s hard to describe—like breath, like water
You know what I mean
It is your desire; you always long for it
Surely, one day, the end will be reunion
It’s hard to describe—like death, like life
